Representative Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has repudiated the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the sluggish Durbar Hotel accepted to be possessed by late Head of State General Sani Abacha, on cases of owing ground lease for a long time.......
The Kaduna State Governor unveiled this in a letter dated December 31, 2019 and routed to Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, months after the inn which has been in a weather beaten state was destroyed by his organization.
Despite the fact that the responsibility for inn had been in conflict between the Federal Government and the Abacha family since 2001, a Kaduna-based high court had given a directive which limited the representative and different offices of the state government from annihilating and assuming control over the inn.
The renouncement letter which was mutually marked on January third, 2020, by Governor El-Rufai and the Deed Registrar, Yusuf Muawiyah of the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), peruses to some degree;
"Infringement of terms of award; security and danger to the individuals of Kaduna State.
"In the light of the abovementioned, you are therefore told that the said plot of land had subsequently been disavowed in accordance with area 28 of the Land Use Act, 2004.
"Also, though the said Durbar Hotels Company Nigeria Ltd has/have neglected to follow the states of the award, it has become essential that the declaration of inhabitance No. KD17789 be repudiated.
"Presently in this manner, in exercise of intensity gave upon me by the Land Use Act, CAP L5 Laws of the Federation, Nigeria 2004, I thus deny with impact from the 30th day of December, 2019 the Right of Occupancy over the previously mentioned plot."
While the Supreme Court is being anticipated to pass its judgment on responsibility for property, Justice Hannatu Balogun of the State High Court limited the Kaduna State Government from messing with the property following its destruction, after Reuben Atabo, insight to Durbar inn the executives and the Abacha family recorded an ex parte movement.
