Court Sentences NDDC Staff To 7 Years In Prison For N4m Contract Extortion

A boss in the Security Department of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has been condemned to seven years detainment for N4m contract extortion.....

Tarila Ebizimor was sentenced for getting cash under misrepresentation to the tune of N4.000.000.00 (Four Million Naira). 

The convict was indicted by the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a four-check charge. 

As indicated by EFCC, in August 2013, Tarila Ebizimor claimed to be an individual collaborator of the overseeing chief of the NDDC and got the entirety of N4million from the candidate on the affection that he will help encourage the honor of a street development agreement to him. 

One of the charges against him peruses: "That you Tarila Ebizimor on the thirteenth day of August, 2013 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State inside the ward of this good court did falsely acquire the total of N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira), which said whole was paid into your Fidelity Bank account No. 5330259983, by a methods for move from God's Grace Haulage Limited on the guise that you were to encourage the honor of street development contract from Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), an affection you know to be bogus and subsequently dedicated an offense, in opposition to Section 1(i)(a) of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offenses Act, 2006 and culpable under Section 1(3) of a similar Act." 

He was condemned to 7 years in jail by Justice A.T Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, on Friday, January 17, 2020.
